Thanks for checking out my Blog! My name is Sean Conlon and music is my passion. For me music has been a rock steady presence in my life and a force that has continually expanded my understanding of both the world we live in and my own creative abilities. Through my musical evolution and experiences I became a more creative, focused, conscious, reflective, responsible, knowledgeable, patient, and adventurous human being. Music changed my life and helped liberate me from the creative dis-empowerment that is often encouraged in a commodified culture. As a listener, a DJ, A bassist, a recording artist, a music educator, a writer, a dancer, and an all around musical adventurer, I have been blessed with a life time of peak musical experiences. In fact have spent my life seeking them out in a mind blowing variety of divergent cultural forms.

This blog is an attempt to bear witness to some of the magic I’ve seen and also to archive my freelance music writing. My hope is to contribute to a more Universal understanding of music that is liberated from the ridiculously limited ethnocentric/culturally biased understanding so many people have of it. Joseph Campbell was able to illuminate the transformative power of myth by studying the stories and legends of the tribes, cultures, and religions of the world. It is my quest to do the same with music.

I believe there is a profound transformational aspect to music, that music can be much more than a form of entertainment. For me music has been an integral part of my spiritual path. I believe that those who would travel the creative path of music with an open mind, heart, body, and soul will find hidden aspects of themselves revealed in the teachings of music. This transformative nature of music has been alluded to throughout history and across the boundaries of culture, geography, time, and space. I have seen it firsthand in action at hip hop shows, raves, Sufi gatherings, bluegrass festivals, at punk shows, house parties, Gospel churches, rock concerts, and on street corners. I have seen music continually ask us to celebrate life, live in the present, step outside our limitations, live soulfully, and come together as a creative force of energy and unified action. I created this blog as a gathering place for those of us who believe in the power of music and would hope to expand our understanding of it. Feel free to contribute comments, links, etc and hopefully together we can help tell the hidden story of music so that people can create, listen to, and live it with conscious intention.

Nice hearing from you Craig. Thanks for the comment, it means a lot. You were one of the people who helped me hit my groove stride back in the days in the zoo. I Couldn’t have come this far without you!
